ῥέπω, sich langsam od. allmälig neigen, sich herabsenken, wie die Wagschaale, ἐτίταινε τάλαντα, ἕλκε δὲ μέσσα λαβών, ῥέπε δ' αἴσιμον ἦμαρ Ἀχαιῶν, Il. 8, 72, wie 22, 212; vgl. Ar. Ran. 1389; Plat. Rep. VIII, 550 e; dah. τῶν δ' ἐξ ἴσου ῥεπομένων, Aesch. Suppl. 400, vom Gleichschweben der Wagschaalen; ὕπνον ῥέποντα πρὸς ἀῶ, Pind. P. 9, 25, vgl. Ol. 8, 23; τὸ μητρὸς ἐς σέ μοι ῥέπει στέργηϑρον, Aesch. An die ursprüngliche Bdtg erinnert Dem. ὥςπερ ἐν τρυτάνῃ ῥέπων ἐπὶ τὸ λῆμμα, 18, 298. – Dah. übh. sich wohin wenden, hinwenden, εἰς τὴν γαστέρα, es gleitet in den Magen; u. übtr., ἦν ϑ' ὁ γρῖφος ἐνταῦϑα ῥέπων, Antiphan. com. bei Ath. X, 449 a, der Sinn ging dahin.
