δάκρυον, τό, 1) die Thräne (vergl. lacrima, altlatein. dacruma), von Hom. an überall; bei Hom. δάκρυον accusat., Odyss. 8, 531 Iliad. 16, 11; δάκρυα nominat. Odyss. 19, 204 Iliad. 17, 437; δάκρυα accusat. Odyss. 8, 86 Iliad. 1, 42; dativ. plur. δακρύοισι einmal bei Homer, Odyss. 18, 173; δακρυόφι (ν) Odyss. 4, 705. 5, 152. 10, 248. 19, 472. 20, 349 Iliad. 17, 696. 23, 397. Uebrigens kann δακρυόφι(ν) und δάκρυα eben so gut zu δάκρυ gezegen werden, und doppelt zweideutig ist die Verbindung δάκρυ ἀναπρήσας oder δάκρυ' ἀναπρήσας Odyss. 2, 81 Iliad. 9, 433, wie auch Stellen mit ὀμόργνυμι: Bekker schreibt Odyss. 8, 88 δάκρυ' ὀμορξάμενος, Odyss. 11, 530 δάκρυ ὀμορξάμενον. Homer verbindet sonst noch δάκρυα χέειν, Odyss. 4, 523 Iliad. 16, 3, δάκρυα λείβειν, Odyss. 5, 158 Iliad. 13, 88, u. s. w. – Folgende, z. B. μετὰ πολλῶν δακρύων Plat. Apol. 34 c. – 2) Gegenstand des Weinens, Theodorid. 17 (VII, 527). – 3) Alles tropfenweis Hervorquellende; μέλιτται φέρουσαι τῶν τε ἄλλων ἀνϑέων καὶ ἀπὸ τῶν δένδρων τὰ δάκρυα, d. i. Harz, Arist. H. A. 9, 40; Sp., wie Diosc. procosm. lib. 1 p. 8, neben ὀποί. Auch ἀμπέλου, Anth. XI, 298.
